Making it Homey

Many youth pastors want their youth rooms to feel homey and welcoming to students. I’m in the process of looking at remodeling our youth room. Right now our room is pretty plain. White walls, posters, one wall is a chalkboard for writing prayer requests. We have a stage with stage lights and pull down screen for a projector (attached to our ceiling). We also have an XBox, PS2, and GameCube available to play with.

Some of my initial thoughts and ideas:

  • Restaurant Booths – with lights hanging from the ceiling.
  • Giant bean bag chairs
  • Bright, fun colors on the walls
  • Video Games and TV’s
  • Snack Bar/Coffee Bar

I’m looking at having this remodel done by our missions team in preparation for our trip this summer which is based on these types of projects. Could be good practice.

What do you have that makes your youth room feel welcoming and fun to teenagers?
