In getting volunteer staff members in a youth ministry, I read a lot about getting people in a ‘job’ that matches their personality. Yet, many times we are so desperate for a warm body in the room of chaotic teens we take just about anybody. So what is it about personality?

Our staff will last longer.

Our staff will want to serve.

Our staff will seek others to come on our team.

I think the hardest part of all this is how do we find out what matches their personality? There is trial and error, which is how I think most youth pastors work. There are personality tests. But which ones are the ‘good’ ones?

How do you get to know your staffs personality…especially if they are new to your team?
