Message Prep

Posted: December 16, 2009 in Programming, Youth Ministry

One of my things that I have learned to do is be a little more efficient with my time. Running both Jr. & Sr. High programs averaging about 70 per week takes a lot of time. So over that last several years, I have bought curriculum and modified it to fit the needs of our group. Every once in a while I get a feeling that I cheat, but then I think to myself, “At least the ministry is growing and students are getting closer to Christ and understanding the Bible more.”

One thing I did as a test, was I did a series called, “From The Moleskine”. It’s a series of messages that come straight from my devotional readings. It’s easy prep, but straight from the heart. I’ve really enjoyed doing this series because I don’t really need notes.

What do you do for message preps? How do you prepare your weekly talks? I’m always interested in what others do.
