A Night Off…well almost.

As a youth pastor running two nights and a Sunday morning, sometimes I just need a night off. I was at a local networking brunch earlier in the year put on by a local Christian college, Northwestern College. There I learned about a resource they offer called, Youth Crew. It’s a group of college students that go to local youth ministries and run the night, giving the youth pastor the night off. I decided to take full advantage of this. And it turned out to be a GREAT night! Here’s how it went.

They arrived about 15 minutes early to set up some stuff. They had information about their school. They opened the night with a bunch of up front games and a genders war game. Girls kicked the guys butt! Then they shared a great message about peer pressure. Each student shared their testimony. Very inspiring for the students to hear. After that, they gave away some shirts. Then it was FREE pizza. They ordered Domino’s Pizza and pop. The students in my youth ministry loved the college students and related very well them.

I’d love to hear what some other youth pastors do to give themselves the ‘night off’.

  1. Mary says:

They bring their kids to youth group so that the other leaders take over for the night and then they get happy wives so that’s the real “break”!
