Tough Competition

I’m all about competition. But when is competition too much to handle? You know the kind…you size up your competitor and you know just by looking at it that you should bow out gracefully because your butt is about to get whooped. As we look at the church and the culture…church has tough competition. I read this the other day:

“But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent. You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed.” 2 Corinthians 11:3-4

The church competing with the culture that tells us what we “want” to hear. How do we compete with a culture so rich (like Corinth)? Our culture spend billions of dollars advertising. It almost seems that it has money growing on trees (and our government is trillions of dollars in debt). The church on the other hand struggles to just stay alive in many places.

How do you as a church, or for that matter a Christian, compete with the culture we live in?
