Ordination. What a word in the world of ministry. Some really strive to get it, others don’t. I sat through my second ordination council this week.

I wonder…

Is it really worth it? Why do it? From what I understand, it’s just a group of people that read your paper, ask you questions and tell you wether or not you are called to vocational ministry. Shouldn’t we know ourselves if we are called? I thought it was God who tells us…not other people. Besides going through the process, don’t you get the confirmation of your call into ministry from others we work with, minister to, friends, and family? Why go through the grueling process?

Are you ordained? Are you planning on it? Why or why not? Just a curious youth pastor who is not ordained.
