“Already Gone: Why your kids will quit church and what you can do to stop it.” by Ken Ham & Britt Beemer

This is an eye opening book about the potential future of the church. Without giving too much away, it goes to say that if we don’t act now, the ‘church’ is in trouble of extinction…and it all starts with our youth ministry.

This book doesn’t give concrete ideas other than teaching our students to defend what they believe (apologetics), teach the Word, teach about the Word, and teach about the Church.

Here are some quotes from the book that really got me thinking.

“Nationwide polls and denominational reports are showing that the next generation is calling it quits on the traditional church.”

“Sunday school is actually more likely to be detrimental to the spiritual and moral health of our children.”

“We have to be honest: at least half of those who are leaving the Church haven’t left the faith: they have left the fellowship.”

There’s just a small taste of what to expect in this read. I encourage you to hit Amazon and pick it up. Overall, this book is good at refueling the fire of doing purposeful youth ministry.
